- OUR IMMIGRATION ADVOCACY
We have our roots in the immigrants’ rights movement and we believe that No Human Being is Illegal. We advocate for immigration reform such as the New York for All Act, and for providing amnesty and pathway to citizenship for undocumented workers. We are a member of the NY Immigration Coalition (NYIC).
Many of our worker members and their families are navigating the immigration process, whether they are on a work visa, are claiming asylum or are undocumented. On this page, we have provided links to resources for our immigrant community, as well as ways for our allies to get involved in our fight to stand in solidarity with and support our immigrant neighbors.
The volunteer arm of the WCCNY is known as Syracuse Immigrant & Refugee Defense Network (SIRDN). SIRDN works for immigration justice in Central New York and beyond through organizing, advocacy, and solidarity support for directly affected individuals and their families. They center the leadership of staff and members of the Workers’ Center of Central New York and strive to show up as allies and accomplices in the fight for human dignity for all people regardless of their citizenship status.
SIRDN volunteers run an immigration emergency hotline, if you, a loved one or a community member is stopped or detained by ICE or CBP we encourage you to reach out to the hotline at: 315-400-0920
